Geneva gearing up for next year’s Sibos

Geneva, Palexpo

Sibos 2016 Geneva will take place between 26 and 29 September. Nestled between the nearby Alpine peaks and the hilly terrain of the Jura, the city of Geneva lies at the point where the Rhone river leaves Lake Geneva. Switzerland’s second largest city shines as one of Europe’s most beautiful destinations – and will provide an idyllic setting for next year’s Sibos.

Sibos is delighted to be returning to Geneva, following successful events in 1993 and 2002. Its favourable geographical location in the heart of Europe makes it a natural choice for an event that attracts over 7,000 guests from around the world. Geneva International Airport is rated amongst the best in Europe. It offers direct scheduled flights to 120 destinations, and is just a six minute train journey from the city centre. It is also within walking distance of the Sibos venue – Palexpo.

Known as the ‘Capital of Peace’, the city is the European seat of the UN and the headquarters of the Red Cross. With a stable economic, political and social environment, Geneva is attracting increasing numbers of startups and SMEs, as well as being home to around 200 multi-national corporations.

A financial hub

Switzerland is one of the most important financial centres worldwide. The country’s financial marketplace features over 325 banks and it manages 27% of transnational assets. More than 35,000 people are employed in the financial industry in Geneva alone, making it a great place to connect and collaborate. Geneva is an important centre for wealth management and commodity trading – there are over 400 commodity-trading companies based in the city. With over 106,000 square metres of contiguous exhibition space, Palexpo is one of Europe’s largest, fully-integrated international convention and exhibition centres. This dynamic venue will fulfil all of Sibos’ requirements whilst offering a perfect flow for visitors.
